General Champions for Charity Info
NPMS Champions for Charity, also known as C4C, was born from our annual McHenryball Fundraiser, which in its first two years was played in honor of NPMS students who had died in tragic accidents. Read about our events and donations for each year on the C4C History page. Funds raised were donated charities and nonprofit organizations that were important to those students. Following years were focused on donating our earnings to nonprofits and charities with local ties to Interior Alaska. 2016 brought expansion to our program. C4C is now a month long fundraising event that runs from mid-February through mid-March. For three years our program included three fundraising events, a Valentine's Social for students only, and two community events: a fun filled family night and our always exciting annual McHenryball Tournament where we compete over two days in early March.
In 2020 we decided to make some changes to include more of our student body and make the events more manageable for our organizers. We switched back to two events, the Social and McHenryball tournament. We changed team size and are allowing up to 20 team members with up to 14 being McHenryball players from 7th and 8th grade and up to 6 non playing team members from any grade.
Teams form in January and begin their planning and fundraising.
Students do not have to be on a team to support a charity or the team playing for it. We encourage everyone in our school and community to support Champions for Charity. Help teams earn points by donating items for our C4C events or by showing team spirit at the McHenryball tournament.
