THE HISTORY OF OUR EVENTS
Over $77,000 raised and donated since 2012 by north pole middle school students2012On the first day of the 2012-2013 school year, North Pole Middle School lost a beloved member of its community in a tragic accident. Classmates of 8th grader James Walters wanted a way to honor James and the activities he loved. The James Walters Memorial McHenryball Tournament was held on Tuesday, December 18th. Over 20 teachers and 80 students at NPMS participated in an athletic tournament of champions, benefiting Fairbanks Youth Football and Cheerleading, Fairbanks Boy Scouts and The Food Bank. We were able to donate $1225 to the FYFC and $1225 to The Fairbanks Boys Scouts.
2012 TOTAL DONATIONS MADE: $2450 2013Shortly after school was out in May of 2013, we lost another student, Robyn Blemke, in another accident. We again worked together as a school to honor our classmate and friend and what was important to her. Over 100 students and 30 staff members came together to play McHenryball and raise over $2600. $1000 was donated to the Fairbanks Gymnastics Booster Club and $475 was donated to the Alaska Literacy Council, Girls Read program in memory of Robyn Blemke. The first and second place teams also were able to donate $900 to the Make a Wish Foundation and $300 to Loving Companions Animal Shelter.
2013 TOTAL DONATIONS MADE: $2675 20142014 brought about a new focus for our tournament and fundraiser. With grateful hearts we didn't lose any students and we could focus on raising money for a variety of local charities and nonprofit organizations. A field of eleven teams raised over $4100 for charities and non-profits.
The 2014 teams, charities and final donations were: Dodge Vaders: $1067 donated to the Autism Society of Alaska Beast Mode: $637 donated to the Breast Cancer Detection Center of Alaska Incrediballers: $544 donated to the Alzheimer’s Association Flag Hunters: $484 donated to the NPMS PTSA The A-Team: $293 donated to the Street Outreach and Advocacy Program Double Dare: $233 donated to the Make a Wish Foundation Candy Cane Crushers: $205 donated to the Fairbanks Animal Shelter Fearless Warriors: $203 donated to the Wounded Warrior Foundation The Dream Team: $183 donated to The Door Shelter/Youth Advocates The Dodgers: $173 donated to The American Red Cross Target Practice: $153 donated to the Fairbanks Community Food Bank 2014 TOTAL DONATIONS MADE: $4175 20162016 brought more change and growth. We moved the tournament from December to March in order to avoid the hectic holiday season. We also recognized that it was time to expand from just the McHenryball Tournament to a month long Champions for Charity fundraiser. Champions for Charity Events included the C4C Semi-Formal Valentine's Dance, a Family Night with a pasta dinner and Knockerball, and the McHenryball Tournament.
The Empire Dodges Back donated $1906 to the Alzheimer’s Association. You Wish! donated $1795 to the Make a Wish Foundation. Anony-moose donated $1546 to SOAP (Street Outreach and Advocacy Program) The Disco Ballers donated $1452.00 to the Boys and Girls Club. The Dodging Rebels donated $1432.50 to the Autism Society of Alaska. Bad 2 Da Bone donated $1213 to the Wound Warrior Project. The Ball-erinas donated $899 to the United Way of Tanana Valley. The Ball Chasers donated $886 to Loving Companions Animal Rescue. The Cannonballs donated $693 to The Door Youth Shelter. BCDC donated $542 to the Breast Cancer Detection Center. 2016 TOTAL DONATIONS MADE: $12, 364.50 2017The North Pole Middle Community joined together from February 10-March 10 for the 5th Annual Champions for Charity Tournament. Thirteen teams of staff and students raised money for locally tied charities/nonprofits. We can’t express how impressed we are with the hard work and dedication that the staff, students and parents of the North Pole Middle School community. We are extremely excited to announce that this year we will be donating $19,500! Champions for Charity is a fundraising competition that started five years ago as a way to honor a student we tragically lost in an accident. Including this year’s donations C4C will have made donations totalling over $41,000. The title of overall Champion for Charity is based on four categories: Fundraising, Team Spirit, Sportsmanship and overall place in our C4C McHenryball Tournament. The 2017 overall Champion for Charity team was the Disco Ballers. They will be donating $2297 to the Boys and Girls Club. The rest of the teams, their overall place in the Champions for Charity tournament, donation amounts, and charities/nonprofits are as follows: 2. United We Dodge donated $1605 to the United Way of the Tanana Valley. 3. Positive Force donated $2037 to Foundation Health Partners Hospice Services. 4. The Pharaohs donated $1829 to the Farthest North Shrine Club’s Patient Transportation Fund. 5. The Top Dogs donated $2106 to the Golden Retriever Rescue of Fairbanks. 6. The Purple Hearts donated $1710 to Hire Heroes. 7. 13 Warriors donated $1432 to Big Brother Big Sisters. 8. The GOATs donated $1252 to the Fairbanks Rescue Mission. 9. The Brainiacs donated $810 to the American Brain Tumor Association. 10. The Dodge Paws donated $860 to Noble Paws. 11. The Throwbocops donated $1583 to the Alaska Chapter of C.O.P.S. 12. The Unbound Heroes donated $926 to the Autism Society of Alaska. 13. Beat It donated $1053 to the American Heart Association 2017 TOTAL DONATIONS MADE: $19,500 2018These are our 2018 final C4C Tournament team standings and donations. 1st Place: Positive Force donated a C4C record of $3,038 to Foundation Health Partners Hospice Services. 2nd: Dodgin’ for Wishes donated $2,216 to Make-A-Wish! 3rd: The Dodgernauts donated $1283 to the Breast Cancer Detection Center. 4th: The Algebros donated $1428 to the Autism Society of Alaska. 5th: The Pharaohs donated $1358 to the Farthest North Shriners Patient Transportation Fund 6th: Cause for Paws donated $2051 to Noble Paws. 7th: The Ninja Dodgers donated $1716 to the Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska. 8th: The Survivors donated $1148 to the Interior Alaska Cancer Association. 9th: The Millennials donated $1427 to Paws for Purple Hearts. 10th: AHH donated $825 to Alaska’s Healing Hearts. 11th: The North Perodians donated $900 to the Boys and Girls Club of Fairbanks. 12th: Ani-Ball Control donated $710 to the FNSB Animal Shelter Fund. 2018 TOTAL DONATIONS MADE: $18,100
